For over 35 years, San Jorge Eco-Lodges and Botanical Reserves has stood as one of the most complete and inspiring examples of green tourism and nature conservation in the world.
From the misty cloud forests of the Andes to lush tropical valleys, rivers, waterfalls, and pristine lagoons, we protect a unique chain of private reserves across multiple altitudinal zones, each home to exceptional biodiversity — including hundreds of species of birds, mammals, orchids, and endangered plants.

We have built this sanctuaries with our own hands, without foreign grants or international foundations. We have endured through earthquakes, pandemics, political instability, social unrest, and economic collapse. Through every hardship, we have remained committed to preserving Ecuador’s most magical ecosystems, employing over 30 families directly and supporting many more through local partnerships and education.
But not everything is green and glowing.
Today, our forests face growing threats:
- Poachers who kill rare animals and birds
- Illegal loggers who destroy ancient trees
- Invasive outsiders who vandalize delicate habitats
- A lack of government support and urgent conservation funding
Our income — based solely on eco-tourism — has been decimated time and again by global crises. Still, we resist. We adapt. We reforest. We patrol. We educate. We care.
Over 80% of our income goes directly to conservation efforts — protecting wildlife, maintaining trails, improving reforestation, providing jobs, and offering dignity to the people who live and breathe this land.
We are not a corporate operation.
